The brand has been synonymous with designing, developing and manufacturing the highest quality welding and compressor equipment since the beginning, but we have been continuing to expand product ranges so we can provide the very best to all major markets.
Today, SIP offers a range as varied as it is specialist, covering sip welding, sip air compressors, sip woodworking, automotive, sip generators, sip tools, sip heating, sip power and pressure washing/cleaning. All products are full of features and are designed to deliver exceptional results whatever the application.
THE FOUNDATIONS OF SIP
SIP Industrial was founded in 1968, based in two small industrial units in Wigston, Leicester. We started by selling cut industrial abrasives, and later circular metal-cutting saws and saw blades to carefully selected distributors.
Throughout growth, SIP saw a large gap in the electric ARC welding market, and began sourcing these from Italy.
THE 1970s
Since the start, quality and product development has been the heart of everything.
The late 1970s saw SIP venture into the compressor market by launching a small range of air compressors
to increasing distributor networks.
We also began our own production of ARC welders and, later, MIG welding machines!
THE 1980s
By the turn of 1980, SIP had begun producing belt-driven electric air compressors in a division called SIP AIR.
These quality machines – hand-built and tested onsite by skilled SIP engineers – were instantly popular with SIP distributors and customers alike.
THE 1990s
SIP increased product ranges over the following years, covering petrol and diesel generators, heaters,
and automotive equipment. By the 90s, we had national retailers on board, trading with Halfords, Costco, and B&Q.
This success meant our warehouse was extended, giving SIP HQ a total footprint of 65,000ft2.
THE 2000s
In 2004, SIP entered the woodwork market to offer quality and value, and have since featured on QVC, Ideal World
and other shopping channels, proving popular with woodworkers nationwide.
Since then, we have continued to develop new products, including cutting-edge inverter welders, capacitor
and hybrid chargers, and a fully-fledged ventilation range.
THE PRESENT DAY
Today, SIP continues to grow stronger, launching over 100 new products a year and supplying distributors across the UK and Ireland, offering 12 core ranges and forming strong partnerships with WINNTEC from SIP, NARDI Compressori,
AER Service, and DEWALT.
A lot has changed since SIP started in 1968, but something that has not is the commitment to providing high-quality machinery and exceptional customer service.
In 2018, SIP celebrated a 50-year anniversary, and are looking forward to the next 50!
